Zappos
Zappos should need no introduction as they strive for the very best customer service. Their main office is located in Henderson, Nevada which is just outside of Las Vegas. Zappos is defined by it’s employees (Zapponians) who are encouraged to decorate their own workspace.

From a design (architectural / engineering) perspective…
I like Williams Group’s use of space.
My friend works at Tocquigny and he is professional yet energetic. Prob same vibe as office.
Meebo looks too cluttered.
Love The Hive’s use of textures.
I like The Front’s homey feel.
The mix of mr16, bay, and indirect lighting fixtures at Digg are perfect for the office environment.
Just my 2 cents =)

Some of them are amazing (twitter/clearleft) but equally some of them lack any imaginattion (digg) some are unbelievably pretentious (thehive)!

It’s so cool to see how other places do business. Some of them are pretty much what i expected, some creativity, but not overdone and extreme and other i kinda thought would have a little more. Really cool concept though and must’ve been fun to research. Thanks for the great post.

Wow! Thanks for the props. I feel amazingly honored to be counted among these other workplaces (which I have to admit I am envious of). @johnOnolan – pretentious? – really? Loud? Certainly. The one difference is that, unlike the other spaces featured, you can work in ours every day for $199/month! More info at http://www.hivecoop.com

The Hive is a space anyone can work in. I spent a few months there myself, and the flexibility of the design really make it fantastic. It’s a nice space to rent while doing independent work (I was doing a book).
